Sublimely Self Righteous

So... nothing is better than a beautiful day, a wonderful cigar and delicious beer. Stone does nothing but impress. Self Righteous was darker than I had expected, starting off with a sweet caramel flavor. It had a thin layer of head even with a slightly less than delicate pour. The head was sweet, nutty and slow to completely go away.

Like some of the other Stone products, it is complex with a great balance of malt and citrusy hops. The sweetness set off the dark bitterness of my Kristoff cigar perfectly, giving me an excellent balance of sweet and spiced.

A lot of people don't like to drink darker beers on warm summer days, but Stone makes such a well balanced brew, that it is great no matter what time of year. The hops give it a nice light flavor that works anytime of the year.

This one gets a 4.
